Palms

Textile pattern Palms are vibrant colours and mixed lines to reflect the lively and festive atmosphere of Gulf festivals, where communities come together to celebrate their heritage through music, dance, and traditional arts. Daydreamer Rug

Daydreamer

Daydreamer is a hand-woven floor rug. Four traditional hand weaving techniques are combined in Daydreamer: the Anatolian knot, Cicim weaving, twill weaving and shuttle traditional towel weaving. The Cicim and twill combination forms the Karacakilavuz weaving technique, which carries a geographical indication. Sun, moon and star motifs float within geometric shapes. Three woven pieces are made on traditional oak looms and joined asymmetrically with a knitted wool chain. A cotton lining covers the back, and the fringes are attached by hand. Production takes about two months.

DefeXtiles Textile Fabrication

DefeXtiles

DefeXtiles is a textile fabrication technique that produces thin and flexible fabrics on standard 3D printers. The method controls under-extrusion so that small globs form with fine strands between them. The resulting periodic gaps give a woven appearance, breathability, flexibility and stretch, even with rigid materials such as polylactic acid. The fabric is printed perpendicular to the print bed, so pleated, curved and complex shapes can be made. Applications include garments, tangible interfaces and toys.

Effect Of Paradox Textile Print Design

Effect Of Paradox

Effect Of Paradox is a textile print design created for fashion products. The pattern shows the glittering shapes of bioluminescent plankton on the sea, drawn as clear blue flowers in bloom. The motif was made with a graphic tablet, and overlapping layers give a mysterious underwater effect. One repeat measures 180 by 130 millimetres, and colour and scale can be adjusted. The pattern is printed on satin by digital textile printing and can be applied to blouses, dresses, scarves and bags. The intent is to share the beauty of recovered nature.

Hodo Zero Gravity Shirt

Hodo Zero Gravity

Hodo Zero Gravity is a men's shirt designed for comfort in many settings. The name refers to the goal of no pressure, no wrinkles and no restraint. The fabric combines microfiber, modal natural fiber and spandex elastic fiber with Swiss HeiQ temperature control technology. The result is soft, skin-friendly and elastic, and helps reduce wrinkles after washing. Careful tailoring uses three-dimensional cutting for the collar, sleeves, waist and back. Light interlining keeps the shape, and fine sewing thread and firm buttons complete the shirt.

OmniFiber Self Sensing Morphing Textiles

OmniFiber

OmniFiber is a microfluidic fiber technology for robotic textiles and garments. The fiber senses its own deformation and responds mechanically to it. OmniFiber contracts, extends, bends and coils with immediate response, high contraction ratio and high force output. A single fiber can be as thin as 500 microns and as large as 2 millimeters in diameter, and it can be knitted or woven into fabric. A wearable control module varies air pressure and flow rate to program the motion. Applications include kinesthetic wearables, dynamic fitting garments and textile-based haptic devices.

The Last Blooming Multifunctional Fabrics

The Last Blooming

To grasp something logically subversive, to turn a seemingly complex definition into a simple exploration of the relationship between "started and finished", the dead flowers become the designer's main material to express the vivid blooming. They are still staying to bloom and show the final beauty. The harmonious repeat and vibrant motifs give the layout more potential expression. The double layers fabrics, the top is chiffon and the back is cotton, create the shift looking when the wind comes. The transparent looking of chiffon contributes to The Last Blooming more attractive and mysterious.

Random Puff 4D Embroidered Garment

Random Puff

Random Puff is a novel puffer that uses 4D embroidery puffs for insulation. Puffs are initially fabricated flat and pop up into domes when exposed to heat. The activated puffs then trap air between the outer environment and the wearer’s body to keep them warm. The development involves the creation of a library of 4D embroidery material interactions between active fibers and static fabrics. Designers and developers can use computational design tools to work collaboratively with end-users, creating novel textile and softgood designs that are high-tech fashion, personalized and sustainable.

Weaving Interactable Silk Scarf

Weaving

Weaving is an interactive silk scarf that can be rearranged by the wearer. The square scarf measures 1000 by 1000 millimetres. Two tapes cross the body of the scarf in a warp and weft arrangement, drawn from traditional Chinese weaving methods. By pulling the tapes in four directions, the user changes the pattern and can form up to 16 different visual combinations. The design moves the silk scarf from a flat surface to a three-dimensional form. Digital printing is used for the patterns, which remain aligned in every combination.

The Withering Flower Printed Textile

The Withering Flower

The Withering Flower is a celebration of the power of the flower image. The flower is a popular subject written as personification in Chinese literature. In contrast to the blooming flower’s popularity, images of the decaying flower are often associated with jinx and taboos. The collection looks at what shapes a community’s perception on what is sublime and abject. Designed in 100cm to 200cm length of tulle dresses, silkscreen printing on translucent mesh fabrics, the textile technique allows the prints to stay opaque and stretchy on mesh, creating an appearance of prints afloat in the air.
