Lacquer
Lacquer is a handcrafted phone case made with the traditional lacquer art of Vietnam. The decorated surface is built on a metal base and covered with many layers of resin. Natural materials such as eggshells, minerals, gold and silver are placed between the layers. The work is done by hand over fourteen days in a moisture controlled environment. Artisans then grind and polish the surface until the hidden drawings and colors appear. A protective coating shields the lacquer from sunlight and water. Each case is sized to fit a specific phone model.
Lacquer Phone Case by Truong Xuan Le has been identified as an outstanding example of fashion design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Lacquer Phone Case earned the Iron A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design in 2020. The A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which recognizes superior design of runway collections, dresses, suits, skirts, outerwear, jackets, apparel, garments and more.
