Gordafarid
Gordafarid is a garment created from reused Persian carpets. Damaged and unusable handwoven carpets form the torso and keep their original structure. The pants are made of linen with the draping technique, inspired by the clothing of Iranian tribes. A headband joins Iranian geometry with the origami technique. A shawl made of metal spring wires and fabric can be given different forms on the body. Variable straps allow changes in size and function. The carpet part can also be hung on a wall or placed on a floor.
Gordafarid Clothing by Mina Aliyari and Shahin Nayyer has been highlighted as an exceptional example of fashion design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Gordafarid Clothing earned the Iron A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design in 2025. The A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade which celebrates superior design of runway collections, dresses, suits, skirts, outerwear, jackets, apparel, garments and more.
