Ovo Melody
Ovo Melody is a musical toy designed for players of any age with little or no musical knowledge. Nodes are placed on tracks, and a ball with a magnetic sensor rolls down and reads the strength of each node magnet to identify the musical scale. The data is then sent by Bluetooth to a base station, which plays the sound. The base holds different instruments, so trumpet, piano or guitar can be selected by switching the bottom part. Braille notation marks each component and the instruction cards, so visually impaired people can also recreate known melodies or compose new ones.
Ovo Melody Toy for Visual Disable by Marco Guariglia was recognized as a creative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Ovo Melody Toy for Visual Disable was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design in 2021. The A' Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition that celebrates superior design of dolls, action figures, board games, puzzles, plush toys, educational toys, building blocks, model kits and more.
