Folded 01
Folded 01 is a dining chair. The seat and back are formed from a single sheet of raw aluminium, bent by hand. The folded shape gives the chair rigidity and a natural bending effect that adds comfort. The aluminium sheet is mounted on a coloured steel frame, which provides a subtle colour detail. The design was inspired by the folding of a square paper note, which becomes rigid once folded. The chair measures 450 mm in width, 500 mm in depth and 800 mm in height. The aim was to return to the essence of the object with a minimal appearance.
Folded 01 Dinning Chair by Erno Dierckx has been highlighted as an exceptional illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Folded 01 Dinning Chair won the Silver A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which celebrates exceptional design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
