Shi
Shi is a tea tray designed for preparing and serving tea. Shi combines a natural stone disk with an aluminum water chassis. The surface is divided into a flat area and a concave area, with a height difference of 16 millimeters. The flat area stays dry and holds the tea set, while the concave area collects and drains the used water. The drain sits at the lowest point of the concave surface, so the water level remains visible and the tray can be emptied in time. The stone is shaped by computer controlled cutting and finished by sandblasting.
Shi Tea Tray by Gang Wang was recognized as an exceptional illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Shi Tea Tray received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Furniture Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which honors superior design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
