SolarVille
SolarVille is a working prototype of a solar powered energy community, built at 1:50 scale. Some houses in SolarVille carry rooftop solar panels, inverters and battery storage, so these homes produce and trade clean energy. Other houses buy the electricity generated nearby. A wiring system links the houses into a standalone micro grid, and blockchain technology records and manages each energy transaction. SolarVille shows how a local community can become self sufficient and keep energy spending within the community.
SolarVille Sustainable Energy Community by SPACE10 was identified as an outstanding example of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. SolarVille Sustainable Energy Community was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Energy Products, Projects and Devices Design in 2020. The A' Energy Products, Projects and Devices Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition that recognizes excellent design of solar panels, wind turbines, hydroelectric generators, geothermal systems, bioenergy converters, fuel cells, energy storage devices, smart grid systems and more.
