Balance
Balance is a residential interior design for a home in Taipei, Taiwan. The living room and the library are joined without a barrier. A U shaped wood panel extends from the wall to the ceiling, hiding the crossbeam and forming an invisible division between the two areas. The sofa and the desk are unified to gain space and to allow several uses. The television wall is made of deep gray natural slate, which contrasts with the warm wood surfaces. Cabinets act as partitions, adding storage and guiding circulation.
Balance Residential Interior Design by Alex Tsai has been identified as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Balance Residential Interior Design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
