Fluids Interactive Installation

Fluids

Fluids is an interactive installation that turns projected light into images of flowing liquid. Six high definition projectors cover a projection screen of 32 by 4 meters, and two radar sensors detect touch on the surface. When a visitor touches the screen, the touched position is sent to a computer and the picture reacts at that point. Visitors can also stand quietly within the scene and become part of the image for other viewers. The sequence lasts six minutes and forty seconds. The motion was developed with a computational fluid dynamics model.

Fluids Interactive Installation by Kevin Sun (SunGuang) has been highlighted as an exceptional illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Fluids Interactive Installation won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interface, Interaction and User Experience Design in 2020. The A' Interface, Interaction and User Experience Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which celebrates superior design of websites, mobile applications, software interfaces, game interfaces, wearable interfaces, virtual reality interfaces, augmented reality interfaces, dashboard designs and more.
