Akimbo Coffee Beer
Akimbo Coffee Beer is a packaging design for two craft coffee beers created through a partnership between a coffee brand and a brewery. The beers are sold in aluminum cans, and the outer box measures 115 millimeters in length, 66 millimeters in width and 66 millimeters in height. A hand-painted illustration and a retro hand-drawn font give the cans a relaxed and refreshing character. The illustration shows the mascots of both brands surfing at the seaside. The design addresses young consumers and states clearly that the drink is alcoholic.
Akimbo Coffee Beer Beverage by Wen Liu was highlighted as an innovative representation of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Akimbo Coffee Beer Beverage won the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which rewards excellent design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
