Hi Ladders High Pavilion

Hi Ladders High

Hi Ladders High is a pavilion built at a summer camp of a primary school in Luotian County, Hubei Province, China. The structure consists of twenty independent wooden ladders cut and polished from China fir. Each ladder is stable and has an adjustable angle of inclination, so many spatial combinations are possible. Children without architectural training took part in the whole design and construction process. Common rural objects, such as ladders, transparent tablecloths and cardboard, are given new functions. The pavilion offers an open place for games and camp events.

Hi Ladders High Pavilion by Li Hao has been recognized as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Hi Ladders High Pavilion won the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition which honors outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
