Pocket House
Pocket House is a mobile residence built inside a standard 40-foot shipping container. The reused container rests on a simple support base, and the dry construction was completed by installation alone in ten days, with little waste. Sections of the steel side walls were removed and replaced with glass doors, which improve ventilation and daylight and open the interior to the garden. Wood is used as the single interior coating for the floor, walls and ceiling. The compact plan holds a bedroom, a bathroom, a living and dining area and a kitchen.
Pocket House Residential by Cristina Menezes was highlighted as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Pocket House Residential won the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2016. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design award which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
