Indigo
Indigo Restaurant is a dining and cultural interior located along the Li River in Yangshuo, China. The project contains five zones: a flower garden, a slow dining cafe, a cultural venue, a bakery and a fermented cuisine restaurant. Each zone can operate alone or together. Heritage rules prevented changes to the exterior, so the circulation was reorganized inside. Arches unify the columns of the lower level and guide movement. Gray brick, red patterned brick and indigo tones refer to local dyeing craft. A preserved ancient wall frames the distant mountains.
Indigo Restaurant by MIN REN CO.,LTD. was featured as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Indigo Restaurant earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
