Time Capsule
Time Capsule is a package designed for a community library in Nishi-Tokyo City. Time Capsule is loaned to library users on an annual basis. Personal treasures and family mementos are kept inside, and a date and time for opening are set by the user. The package looks like a book, so it can be displayed on the high shelves that users cannot reach and where books cannot be placed safely during earthquakes. Five colors bring movement to the space while keeping a calm atmosphere. Colors that resist fading and paper that resists warping suit long display.
Time Capsule Package by Koichi Namimoto was identified as a grand illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Time Capsule Package earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2024. The A' Packaging Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize which celebrates superior design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
