Interweave
Interweave is a display cabinet designed for living rooms and lobbies. The cabinet is composed of intersecting wooden strips set at different angles, forming a grid that acts as a semi-transparent barrier. Two woods are used, walnut and beech hardwood, so the crossing lines differ in color and add a sense of depth. Traditional mortise and tenon joints connect every strip, leaving a smooth surface without pegs or screws. Items placed inside can be glimpsed through the grid, creating a discreet display method. The cabinet measures 1450 by 700 by 500 millimeters.
Interweave Cabinet by Yu-Ching Chen has been recognized as an outstanding example of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Interweave Cabinet earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2024. The A' Furniture Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize that recognizes outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
