The Wishful Thinking
The Wishful Thinking is a gift box inspired by Hezhe ethnic culture. The box holds four items: a notebook, a pen, a bookmark and a USB flash drive. Each item carries an auspicious meaning, such as a promising future, rising up, like a fish in water, and guardianship. The notebook shows a Hezhe pattern and a metal clasp inlaid with fish skin. The pen is carved with scenes from the Imakan chant. The bookmark is made of brass in the shape of a fish. The packaging uses recyclable paper and plant-based ink.
The Wishful Thinking Gift Box by Guo Lin has been highlighted as an exceptional representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award. The Wishful Thinking Gift Box won the Bronze A' Design Award in Giftware Design in 2024. The A' Giftware Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program which honors outstanding design of candles, figurines, picture frames, decorative plates, ornaments, souvenirs, personalized mugs, collectibles and more.
