Herringbone
Herringbone is a dining table inspired by the structure of leaves and by the aim of removing what is superfluous. The internal structure stays visible, and the simple silhouette is fully exposed. The table is made of certified American solid wood with a natural oil finish, and measures 2500 by 1000 by 750 millimetres. Traditional woodworking techniques and the skills of master craftsmen are used, with as little glue as possible. The two large tops are shaped by hand. The table can be taken apart in three parts, yet behaves as a single piece.
Herringbone Dining Table by Alexandre Caldas was identified as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Herringbone Dining Table received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2023. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program which rewards exceptional design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
