YS Retreat
YS Retreat is a hotel interior located in a mountain village in Tibet, China. The design combines Han and Tibetan styles, using Tibetan elements as a background rather than as the main theme. Visible design gestures are kept to a minimum, leaving nature, scenery and space to the guests. Large floor-to-ceiling windows open the rooms to snow-capped mountains and lakes. Micro-cement covers the walls, and original wood is used with little decoration. Old anti-corrosion wood was polished and reused. The interior is intended to support rest and quiet reflection.
YS Retreat Hotel by Song Zhengxiang has been highlighted as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. YS Retreat Hotel won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize that celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
