Horn
Horn is a large-scale pottery art installation created for a public park in Luye Township, Taiwan. The form is shaped as antlers, with one short branch set forward and one long branch set backward, creating a height difference and a reverse spiral symmetry. The design refers to local deer legends and to the annual hot air balloon event of the area. The clay and glaze are fired above 1,200 degrees, so the surface is hard, non-toxic, weather-resistant and colourfast. The work stands about 450 centimetres high and can be viewed, touched or used as a seat.
Horn Art Installation by Jin Ying Yei Tao Pottery Ltd has been featured as an outstanding representation of communication design by the A' Design Award. Horn Art Installation was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2023. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade which honors exceptional design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
