Citystars Heliopolis
Citystars Heliopolis is a mixed-use retail complex in Egypt, first opened in 2004. The complex is under renovation, with a gross floor area of 250,000 square meters. The renovation covers architecture, interiors, lighting, wayfinding, landscape and sustainability within one integrated approach. Eight levels extend across a city block. The curved form refers to the flow of the Nile. Four atriums, named Orion, Eclipse, Solaris and Starport, shape the interior. Shade structures, a lake, trees and planting help to cool the site.
Citystars Heliopolis Retail Architecture by Geoffrey Morrison has been selected as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Citystars Heliopolis Retail Architecture earned the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program that recognizes exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
