Exquisite Wood
Exquisite Wood is a bookshelf made of elm. The design is inspired by Chinese furniture and combines square and round forms for a simple and dignified appearance. The components are joined by metal butterfly screws, and some parts use mortise and tenon structures. The parts are cut from straight wood by numerical control carving and milling, which reduces material loss. The bookshelf can be assembled and taken apart by hand, so production and transport remain simple. Partitions allow books and objects to be sorted and stored.
Exquisite Wood Bookshelf by Wei Jingye / 魏靖野 has been selected as a creative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Exquisite Wood Bookshelf received the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade which honors outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
