Yueyun Teahouse
Yueyun Teahouse is a community center set between the mountains and the sea in Xiamen. The building form follows the Fibonacci spiral, also known as the golden spiral, and is controlled by the golden ratio. The final shape resembles a conch shell and responds to the coastal setting. A curved full glass curtain wall makes the ground level visually transparent and lets sunlight and air enter. A covered bridge finished in metal panels contrasts with the garden and forms a visual center. About 1000 aluminum plates of different sizes were joined to shape the thin spiral.
Yueyun Teahouse Exhibition Center by Zhubo Design has been featured as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Yueyun Teahouse Exhibition Center earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that celebrates superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
