Cloud Mountain Type
Cloud Mountain Type is a typeface inspired by the cloud and fog mountains of Zhang Jiajie and by ancient Chinese landscape painting. The letterforms combine traditional Chinese cloud and mountain imagery with the structure of the Latin alphabet. Each character is hand drawn and then refined with digital image software, and the typeface can be used at variable sizes. Seen very closely, the details take over and the letter becomes hard to recognize, much as the shape of a mountain cannot be seen from its summit.
Cloud Mountain Type Type Design by Meng Shenhui was selected as an outstanding representation of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Cloud Mountain Type Type Design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2022. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize which honors superior design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
