Burwood Brickworks Australian Aboriginal

Balarinji was engaged by Frasers Property Australia to design public art installations for Burwood Brickworks in Victoria, Australia, the world’s most sustainable shopping centre. Balarinji worked with local Wurundjeri, Dja Dja wurrung and Njuari illum wurrung artist, Mandy Nicholson to develop the artwork concept that was deeply embedded to Place and reflected the Wurundjeri culture. The installations included a ceiling mural and outer facade murals.

Burwood Brickworks Australian Aboriginal Art Installation by Balarinji was recognized as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Burwood Brickworks Australian Aboriginal Art Installation earned the Iron A' Design Award in Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design in 2022. The A' Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design Award is a highly prestigious international design competition which rewards outstanding design of cultural heritage projects, cultural conversation, preservation, restoration and protection projects, heritage architecture and more.
