The Depth of Space
The Depth of Space is a residential interior design completed in Taiwan in 2020. The plan is organized around a T-shaped circulation layout that replaces the original narrow and divided rooms. Daylight from the north and west windows forms gradual layers of light and shadow across the areas. Mirrors are extended along the walls at an angle to soften the beams and columns between the living room and the dining room and to widen the view. The ceiling is opened and finished with special paints, and imported stone slabs echo the grain of the ceiling.
The Depth of Space Residential by Hung Yu Chen has been highlighted as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. The Depth of Space Residential was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
