M and W
M and W is a residential interior design for a split level apartment of 43 square meters. Changes in floor level and openings of different sizes link the areas and widen the views. A composite screen of glass and mirror divides the entrance from the kitchen and keeps light flowing. A mezzanine placed above the study separates the public and private areas. A rotating television wall softens the boundary between the study and the living room. A gray platform joins the living room and the study, serving as seating and as a desk.
M and W Residence by KAO SHIH CHIEH has been identified as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. M and W Residence earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
