Experience Design of Chime

Experience Design of Chime is an interactive projection installation for museum exhibitions. The installation combines projection technology with the chime, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, so visitors can strike the chime and explore cultural knowledge at the same time. Flashing images can be selected, and a halo on the chime guides visitors through a melody. Menu icons lead to further interfaces, such as a history section where flags and characters reveal text. The hardware includes projectors, radars, computers and speakers. The projection measures 90 by 258 centimeters.

Experience Design of Chime Interactive Projection by Linfeng Zhang was selected as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Experience Design of Chime Interactive Projection earned the Iron A' Design Award in Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design in 2022. The A' Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade that recognizes exceptional design of cultural heritage projects, cultural conversation, preservation, restoration and protection projects, heritage architecture and more.
