Walk DVRC Street Basket
Walk DVRC Street Basket is a mobile street pavilion created for a partial pedestrianization plan along Des Voeux Road Central in downtown Hong Kong. The structure measures 4 metres by 4 metres in plan and stands 3 metres tall, with a wood canopy carried on steel columns. Wheels and a battery are fitted below the structure, so the pavilion stays light and works without a connection to the utility grid. Seating, planting, shading and cellphone charging are provided. The pedestrianized zone can return to a road in less than five minutes.
Walk DVRC Street Basket Mobile Landscape by Vicky Chan has been highlighted as an innovative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Walk DVRC Street Basket Mobile Landscape was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Street Furniture Design in 2021. The A' Street and City Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize which celebrates exceptional design of benches, bollards, bus shelters, bicycle racks, litter bins, planters, signage, lighting fixtures and more.
