Baltija
Baltija is a packaging series for a chocolate collection sold in the Baltic region. The name comes from the Lithuanian word for the Baltic Sea, which inspired the design. A lighthouse and a sea scene are illustrated in a classic Victorian style, with wavy forms that suggest the movement of water. No national symbols are used, so the packaging represents the whole region rather than one country. A deep greenish blue tone adds a refined look. The boxes and envelopes are made of paper, printed by offset, and finished with matte varnish and copper foil details.
Baltija Confectionery Packaging by Motiejus Gaigalas has been highlighted as an innovative example of communication design by the A' Design Award. Baltija Confectionery Packaging received the Silver A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2021. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade which recognizes exceptional design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
