Mecha Uma
Mecha Uma is a restaurant interior designed as a culinary performance venue in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila. The 64 square meter space serves creative Japanese cuisine to two sets of ten guests each night. A counter surrounds the open kitchen, and seating is arranged so that the chef and the guests meet at the same level while each dish is introduced. The material theme is raw, with concrete, steel, copper, glass and wood. A light sculptural cloud hovers above the kitchen, recalling a thought cloud drawn in comic books.
Mecha Uma Restaurant by Jorge Manuel Yulo has been featured as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Mecha Uma Restaurant received the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious international design recognition program which celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
