Acoustic Cable Deicing Robot
Acoustic Cable Deicing Robot is a conceptual robot designed to remove ice from power cables after snowstorms. The device is mounted directly on the cable. A cylindrical heating ring inside the robot gradually warms the cable surface until the ice melts. An anti-freezing material on the outer layer prevents ice from forming again. Closed switches on both sides keep the robot attached during work. A manual interface and a mobile application let the operator preset tasks and follow progress. The robot is intended to replace manual deicing at height and reduce risk for workers.
Acoustic Cable Deicing Robot Conceptual by Siyang Xu has been highlighted as an exceptional example of strategy design by the A' Design Awards. Acoustic Cable Deicing Robot Conceptual won the Bronze A' Design Award in Futuristic Design in 2022. The A' Futuristic Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that celebrates superior design of conceptual architectures, advanced robotics, innovative transportation systems, futuristic fashion designs, progressive furniture pieces, Next-Gen electronic gadgets, revolutionary software interfaces, groundbreaking biotech innovations and more.
