Light Up 13 Layer Remains
Light Up 13 Layer Remains is a public art lighting project for a former copper refinery in northern Taiwan. The mining site closed in 1973, and its basic structure was preserved. A color temperature of 2100K was chosen to suit the outer crust of the structure. Amber light inside recalls the fire used during refining. Luminance rises with each level, from 1 nit at the base to 6 nits at the upper levels, so the layers are clearly read. Nearby vegetation is lit at 3000K. In total, 365 luminaires in 15 angles and wattages were installed.
