The Smell of Book
The Smell of Book is a sales office interior located in Chengdu, China. The design uses the form and lines of the traditional Chinese book scroll as an art installation. The scroll shape also acts as the main circulation line, guiding visitors from the sales office on the second floor down to the model room on the first floor. Materials include mirror stainless steel, metal, acrylic, white stone, curved mirror and terrazzo. Large French windows reduce visual barriers and link the interior with the outdoor scenery.
The Smell of Book Sales Office by Zhang Yun was recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. The Smell of Book Sales Office won the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
