Metropolis
Feng Xi Metropolis Plot 5 is a shopping mall in Xi An, China. The mall covers 100779 square meters on a site of 33601 square meters and reaches a height of 38.5 meters. A water curtain system forms a waterfall in the central atrium, and mist nozzles water the cascading plants. A catch pool serves as the water tank and is refilled as the plants are watered. Express escalators and glass lifts connect seven levels to an outdoor green roof. The skylight combines low emissivity insulating glass with aluminum baffles to reduce direct sunlight.
Metropolis Shopping Mall by LnP Architects was highlighted as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Metropolis Shopping Mall won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade which rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
