Sanjiao Eco Island
Sanjiao Eco Island is a resort master plan for an uninhabited island in southern China. The plan covers a site of 90 hectares and a total building area of 100,000 square meters. Eight themed zones are arranged around the island, each shaped by the existing terrain and linked by a shared ecological theme. Planned facilities include a water park, a sailing school, a nature preserve and several hotels. Stone and planting are the main materials, recalling the former stone quarry on the site. Only green vehicles are permitted, and the development is planned in phases.
Sanjiao Eco Island Resort Masterplanning by NDA Group was identified as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Sanjiao Eco Island Resort Masterplanning won the Silver A' Design Award in Urban Planning and Urban Design in 2021. The A' City Planning and Urban Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program which rewards superior design of masterplans, zoning proposals, infrastructure designs, landscape blueprints, public space concepts, urban renewal projects, transit oriented developments, sustainable city designs and more.
