Ethereal
Ethereal is a hair salon interior located in Taipei. The space covers 133 square meters. Wood is used as the main material, and its solid character is combined with surrounding textures. From a distance the interior looks like an installation artwork, while closer viewing reveals detailed craft work. Woodcraft elements and textures are rearranged to move away from the traditional image of a commercial hair salon. Curved and linear forms, ink-like gradations and natural scents create a calm atmosphere. The design is intended as an urban retreat where visitors can relax.
Ethereal Hair Salon by Jacksam Yang was highlighted as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Ethereal Hair Salon was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
