River to Ocean Wearable Sculpture

River to Ocean

River to Ocean is a collection of wearable sculptures that can be worn on the body or displayed in a gallery. The collection includes a hat and a vest, presented with textile garments and decorations on shoes. Each piece resembles splashing liquid frozen in time, recalling water drops on flowers or a river colliding with rocks. The forms are designed in 3D software, printed in resin as small parts, then painted and assembled by hand. The large silhouettes remain light in weight. The branches of the vest can be taken apart and rebuilt into new forms.

River to Ocean Wearable Sculpture by Yiyao Nie has been featured as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. River to Ocean Wearable Sculpture won the Silver A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2021. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade that recognizes excellent design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
