Pingjiang Wonder
Pingjiang Wonder Bookstore is a bookstore in Suzhou, China, with a gross built area of 1800 square meters. The building is shaped as a delicately cut crystal and is divided horizontally into two parts. The upper part is faceted, and the sliced facades are tilted by a vertical angle of 4 to 6 degrees towards the sky. The transparent lower part is set at the human scale for better integration into the surrounding streets. High reflective glass panels of 5 by 1.8 meters form the external framed curtain wall.
Pingjiang Wonder Bookstore by Aico Ltd was identified as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Pingjiang Wonder Bookstore was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize which celebrates exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
