River of Light
River of Light is a landscape design for the side yard of a residential community. Curved strip patterns form the main theme and create layered spaces of water and greenery. A former plain backyard has been reshaped into a smooth and intriguing walking route with secured privacy. Curved reinforced concrete walls of different heights were built with customized molds and bent rebars, some of which were shaped on site. Native perennial plants, evergreen trees and shrubs form a green boundary that changes with the seasons. Lighting reveals a different character at night.
River of Light Landscape by Hsu Fu Chu has been identified as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. River of Light Landscape was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design accolade that celebrates excellent design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
